Newton's Apple

A popular storey claims that Newton was inspired to formulate his theory of universal gravitation by the fall of an apple from a tree.

Later Life

In the 1690's Newton wrote a number of religious tracts dealing with the interpretation of the Bible.

Isaac Newton was knighted in 1705 and became Sir Isaac Newton.

Mechanics and Gravitation

In 1677 Isaac Newton returned to his work on gravitation and its effect on the orbit of the planets.

Middle Years

From 1670 to 1672 Newton lectured on optics. During this period he investigated the reflection of light, demonstrating that a prism could decompose white light into a spectrum of colours, and a second prism could recompose the multicoloured spectrum into white light.
Known as Newton's Theory Of Colour.

Early Years

Isaac Newton went to the village school and later was sent to The King's School, Grantham where he became the top student.
He then went off to the Universitiy of Cambridge at the age of 19. In June 1661 he went to the Trinity College, Cambridge.
In 1665 he discovered the generalized binomial theorem and began to develop a mathematical theory that would later become calculus. For the next 2 years Newton worked from is home on calculus and law of gravitation.
